Essential OSX Applications

After having so much fun with my new OSX install - It is time to settle in with your favorite applications that you enjoyed on your x-operating system.

My definition of essential applications include :-

- Some instant messaging and VoIP
- Good plain text editor
- Variety of web browsers
- IRC client
- FTP/SFTP client
- New reader
- P2P client
- Multimedia and Graphics design tools.
- RAR Archiving utility

Some of the above essential applications were already present in my install for example
- Textmate
- Firefox and Safari
- VLC and iTunes

So this is what I've found so far.

- MSN Messenger for Mac OSX and for VoIP I installed Skype
- Another open source web browser [Camino Browser]
- FileZilla is also support on OSX but I found another one [Fugu]
- IRC Client : I installed X-Chat but it has a lot of limitations. It doesn't notify when someone pings you on IRC and doesn't allow administrative tasks. So I am going to give [Colloquy] a try.
- P2P client: Transmission was already installed but I found [Acquisitonx]
- New reader: Uptill now I always used Google Reader but I wanted something in a stand alone application so I found [Newfire]
- Multimedia Graphics tool: Nothing beats Adobe these days when it comes to that. So I am still waiting for my download to finish [Adobe.CS3.Design.Premium.Vol.MAC.OSX-HOTiSO ]
- Archiving Utility: Since all my "downloads" are in scene format [UnrarX] seems to do the job.

If you have got any more suggestions on alternative utilities and applications please comment.
